Awhile back, I was at my parents and all the boys were out. It was a "girl's day". I was telling my mom about some dollhouses I had seen on Pinterest that were made with 3-ring binders. Instead of taking up a lot of room (and money) like most dollhouses, these could fold up and sit right on your bookshelf until you're ready to play again. Mom thought it sounded like a good idea and went to find some binders that she wasn't using. Since it was just us girls at home, it worked out perfectly to sit down and start "decorating".
We started by covering the inside covers with scrapbook paper. Then, we Googled some images of the furniture and my little sisters picked out which pieces they wanted to put in each room. We took some scrap material and wrapped the rings up so they looked more like curtains than binders. They may not have turned out perfect, but it was so much fun to do!
Kitchen
(Kind of fitting that the salad dressing is in the background, huh? Totally on purpose.)
Bathroom
(We spent a little more time on the details of this one. We even glued on a hook we found in the tool box to hold the towel {an old rag}. We cut a piece of the rag to use as a rug in front of our Tupperware "bathtub". We also cut out the center of the mirror and added a piece of aluminum foil in it's place. Any items you use for props can be put in a container for easy storage.)
Have fun with this one! I think Mom and I almost enjoyed this more than the girls did!
When I was a little girl (a few decades ago), I loved to get my mother's old catalogs and cut paper doll families out of it. You could use this same idea to find furniture, etc. for your dollhouse.
