Mom's Homemade Pizza Crust

I intended to have pictures to demonstrate how to make this crust but I completely forgot until I was kneading the dough!  I'm sorry.  Luckily, this is a very easy recipe.  We girls learned how to make this delicious pizza crust from our Momma. :)  We thank you Mom...and so do our men. ;)

MOM'S HOMEMADE PIZZA CRUST
1 1/4 c. warm water
1 3/4 tsp. yeast
2 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. oil
2 1/2 c. flour
*Makes one - half sheet pan

Step 1:  In a large bowl, pour 1 1/4 c. warm water.  Sprinkle 1 3/4 tsp. yeast evenly over the water.  Let it sit for a minute so the yeast starts to dissolve.

Step 2:  After it starts dissolving, sprinkle 2 tsp. sugar.  This helps the yeast activate.

Step 3:  After the yeast is dissolved, whisk the mixture for about 20 seconds.

Step 4: Whisk in 1 cup of flour.

Step 5: Sprinkle 1 1/2 tsp. of salt slowly while you are whisking.

Step 6: Whisk in 1 1/2 tsp. oil.

Step 7:  Add remaining 1 1/2 cups flour.  Whisk it in until you can no longer use the whisk.  Use a large spoon to stir the rest.

Step 8:  Place some flour on your flat surface and dump your dough on top of the flour. Knead for 5 minutes, adding a little flour at a time, only enough to keep it from sticking.

Step 9:  In a medium bowl, pour 1 to 2 tsp. of oil and spread it around.

Step 10:  Place your dough in the bowl.  Flip it over so both sides have oil on them.

Step 11:  Cover with a damp towel and allow to rise for at least 1 hour.

Step 12:  After it has doubled in size, pour out on a floured surface and roll out your pizza dough onto a well greased baking sheet.

Step 13: Once you add your toppings, bake at 400 degrees until golden brown.

THIS MAKE THE PERFECT AMOUNT FOR 1 HALF SHEET PAN!
